Head Exploding
August 9th, 2006 by Wyatt
This entry is brought to you via an overworked laptop sitting in a hotel room in San Francisco. I am in the middle of Apple’s WWDC (Worldwide Developer’s Conference) in downtown SF. This means some cool things and some exhausting things.
Cool things:
- Saw Steve Jobs demo the next version of OS X (Leopard) and show off the new Mac Pro
- Been able to hang out with Bob Clark, and ex-Edmark employee who is also in attendance. I also bumped into Tom Miller, another of our ex-coworkers.
- Learning quite a bit about Leopard and what I, as a developer, can do with it. However, I can’t tell you
- Going to dinner with two of my college buddies. One of which I haven’t seen in quite some time.
Exhausting things:
- Five sessions a day with some brown bag sessions crammed in for good measure. Each day has been from 9am to 6pm with most of the time spent in only slightly comfortable chairs while typing in my lap.
- Looking for power and network access between each session. It is plentiful, but there are over 4200 attendees.
- Typing notes on my laptop for each session. I’m becoming a better typer, but my shoulders hurt.
- Getting so much new information, that I can’t process it fast enough. Hence, the exploding head metaphor.
However, the worst thing of all has been being away from home for most of the week. I miss you, Stef and David!
